Miami Marketta is an authentic and organically grown street food experience. It started as a
monthly event and has grown into a Gold Coast ritual running across three nights each week
with live music events featuring national and international touring acts.
Miami Marketta creative director Emma Milikins says Marketta’s foundations go back to those
of markets all around the world. It is a meeting place for locals providing the opportunity to
taste the flavours of the world right here in the heart of the Gold Coast
“But we’re an arts precinct first and foremost,” Emma says. “Artist-run, for artists and by
artists – whether it be the art of music, food, fashion or design.”
Beyond the street food and live music there are also art, fashion and design studios that are
open during Marketta hours. Take a break from eating and cruise the stores – you can even fit
in a sneaky massage.
Wednesday
Increased demand has led to the mid-week Marketta on Wednesday nights, which Emma
says really is a night for the locals. Wednesdays have quite an ethnic vibe with a Brazilian
three-piece performing live every week. Coupled with the South American street food,
Wednesday’s Marketta transports you from the Gold Coast to a laneway in South America for
a few hours.
Friday
Friday nights at Miami Marketta are perfect for indulging in a couple of week’s end cocktails
while watching a live band. With around 30 street food vendors on-site, the venue also has
three specialty bars, seating for 700 people and is licensed front to back. The infusion of
young artists and professionals makes Miami Marketta the ideal place to end the working
week.
Saturday
Saturday nights start a little earlier so families can enjoy the array of food and still get the little
ones off to bed at a reasonable hour. For a more intimate street-food experience there are
two reservation areas available for special events, such as birthdays and engagement
parties. These include tables and exclusive bar staff. You can also get food and beverage
packages.
