Whether you’re planning on staying for a day or a week, there are so many things to do at Sanctuary Cove that you’ll be hard-pressed trying to squeeze them all in. Fancy a spot of shopping down Masthead Way? A bite to eat along the waterfront, or some time on the green at one of two internationally acclaimed golf courses? From eating and dining in the Marine Village to recreational activities on the luscious greens, the Cove is jam-packed with options – it’s almost overwhelming.
“We looked at the area and realised that it is a place with such an array of different experiences,” Sanctuary Cove’s Elysia Billingham says. “The phrase ‘one day is never enough’ just really seemed fitting.”
The Sanctuary Cove crew suggests arriving by boat (with more than 200 moorings, you’re sure to get a park) and then exploring the area on foot. Dining options abound with everything from quirky cafes to Thai food and sushi and, of course, exquisite seafood at George’s Paragon. Plus, the shopping is to die for.
Susie McDonald, who owns both the Sanctuary Resort Shoppe and Calypso Resort & Swimwear and has been in the area for almost 30 years, says the laidback vibes and friendly faces are just unbeatable.
“There’s no noise and everyone is either a local or on holidays, so it’s very relaxed – it’s worlds away from a shopping centre,” Susie says.
You can pop in and check out the luxe labels at Eev Fashion and treat yourself to a new Camilla kaftan or Holster staple. From classic denim to unique homewares, the shopaholics among us will probably spend days in the stores alone.
“What we’ve really got is quality,” Elysia says. “Even down to the chocolate shop, which has brought visitors back time and time again.”
It’s hardly surprising that many call this waterside paradise home. If you’re keen to fully immerse yourself in all that Sanctuary Cove has to offer, check out (or check-in to) the InterContinental Resort or make yourself at home in one of the comfortable holiday homes.
