MIAMI MARKETTA HAS BEEN OFFERING THE GOLD COAST AN ECLECTIC MIX OF GLOBAL WORLD CUISINES SINCE 2011.
In an unassuming shed in an industrial precinct behind the Gold Coast Highway,
Miami Marketta boasts foodie delights from some 15 amazing cultures from
Hungarian, Spanish, Greek and Turkish to Japanese, Thai, Modern Australian fusion, Chinese fusion and Italian.
Miami Marketta creative director Emma Milikins says she tries to offer a mix of food
tastes and types, from what people might be used to, to food vendors that little bit
more obscure. “Vegan and plant-based food is really popular at the moment and people are making different lifestyle choices that we need to cater for,” Emma says. “We now have up to three vendors a weekend who specialise in vegetarian, vegan or plant based.
“At the other end of the spectrum, customers also love the smoked meats stalls. I
know myself when I go out I want to eat something that I can not make myself or
don’t have the time to.”
The cultural street food and music experience is only heightened by the exquisite
Marketta drink offering. Miami Marketta works with wine makers in the Barossa Valley in South Australia and have now created two vintages and nine wines that are only available through their bar. Following the success of these wines, the team at Miami Marketta is also creating their own infused spirits to boost their cocktails.
“As a creative person you need to continuously push yourself and keep creating,”
Emma says. “Although running Marketta is really rewarding, I need to still be creative to keep the spark alive in that space.”
Emma says there is some really exciting news in 2018, but she can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet. scout readers will have to wait with bated breath!
Miami Marketta is open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights at 23 Hillcrest
Parade, Miami.
