It’s the most wonderful time of the year – can you feel it? If not, we’ve got just the thing: the ultimate, grinch-proof guide to festive fun on the Gold Coast… Get into the holiday spirit with these Gold Coast Christmas activities.
See the lights
The Christmas lights, that is. Did you know that there is a map showing you the best and brightest homes to visit if you’re looking for Christmas light displays? Check it out right here – it shows you which homes have put on the best display, and even includes festive lighting put on by City of Gold Coast. All there’s left to do is jump in the car and hit the road on the hunt for Christmas lights (don’t forget the candy canes… for sustenance).
Say hi to Santa
He’s set up shop at a shopping centre near you. Whether you want a photo of your kids, your pet or just yourself, there are so many places to find Santa on the Gold Coast this Christmas – here’s a comprehensive guide. But what if you want Santa to come to you? This business does beach photoshoots for your family, and the results are pretty spectacular.
Watch a Christmas movie
Sure, you could sit at home and watch the Christmas classics. But the City of Gold Coast’s Movies Under the Stars program takes things up a notch, screening family favourites like ‘Elf’ for the whole community (for free, too!). Not into Christmas movies? They’re also screening ‘E.T.’ this weekend, if you’re looking for some wholesome (but non-festive) family fun.
Go caroling
Getting together with friends – old and new – to sing Christmas carols is probably the most festive thing you can do, and there are still a few chances to do it. While carols events have been and gone for many suburbs, one of the season’s biggest events (Carols on the Beach) is still coming up in Surfers on Sunday December 17. Coomera locals, you’re twice as lucky with a carols event on this Saturday, too! Click here for the full list.
