Another Met Gala has been and gone, but this year’s theme – ‘Tailored for You’ – has us feeling particularly inspired. Are you keen to tap into something a little more masculine? We’re sharing our picks from the local brands nailing menswear, for the girls.
Every year, on the first Monday in May, the eyes of the world – or at least, the fashion world – turn to the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum for the Costume Institute’s biggest night: its annual fundraising gala.
The gala’s theme is always a nod to the spring exhibition – which, this year, is titled ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’. With a focus on menswear and suiting, the exhibit showcases clothing, accessories, art and photographs to tell the story of Black dandyism from the 18th century to now.
For the gala itself, this meant a glorious procession of elegant tailoring, power suiting and aspirational cross-dressing. Blazers, trousers, waistcoats – even a perfectly-executed top hat or two.
If you thought menswear was trending before, think again.
