CALLING ALL FOODIES – IT’S ALMOST THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN. ON JULY 21-22, YOUR FAVOURITE CELEBRITY CHEFS, FOOD STALLS AND LIVE PERFORMANCES WILL TRANSFORM BRISBANE’S SOUTHBANK PRECINCT INTO A HUB OF ALL THINGS TASTY FOR THE TENTH YEAR IN A ROW.
It’s the Sunshine State’s ‘must do’ food and wine festival and, this year, Regional Flavours will pack a serious punch. With a focus on all things fresh, the free festival is a unique celebration of Queensland’s best eats and drinks and truly has something for everyone. An impressive line-up of celebrity chefs and cookbook authors – we’re talking everyone from Gary Mehigan and Miguel Maestre to Sarah ‘I Quit Sugar’ Wilson and Jessica Sepel – will descend upon Brisbane when the festival kicks off on July 21, doing cooking demonstrations, talks and book signings.
One must-try beverage at this year’s festival? Merlo Coffee and Fortitude Brewing Co.’s ground-breaking new product, the Pot Shot Ale. A beer-coffee hybrid, the fruity flavours of the Kenyan coffee bean balances against the beer for a drink that has to be sipped to be believed.“Drinkers will get more of a coffee aftertaste with Pot Shot Ale than a big, bold punch of coffee flavour,” says Dean Merlo, founder of Merlo.
As the day wears on, you can swap your coffee-flavoured beer for a cocktail at the popup riverside bar, wander down the rows of street market stalls for a bite to eat. With so much to see, do and taste, make sure you’re up-to-date on all things.
