What if we told you that this Saturday, August 8, an annual cosmic event will take place that could make your wildest dreams come true? The Lion’s Gate Portal is just as crazy as it sounds – so we asked Gold Coast manifestation guru Cleo Massey to break it down for us.
What is the Lion’s Gate Portal?
Taking place annually on August 8, the Lion’s Gate Portal is one of the most significant dates on the astrological calendar.
“It occurs when the earth, the sun and the star Sirius align, opening a cosmic doorway,” says Cleo Massey, a podcast host and former actress from the Gold Coast. “The energy it brings collectively raises all of our vibrations – not just on the day, but in the few weeks before and after.”
This year, the Lion’s Gate Portal technically runs from July 29 to August 12, peaking on August 8. It’s part numerology, part astrology: the number ‘8’ symbolises infinity, power and abundance, while the star Sirius brings wisdom, clarity and higher frequencies. With the sun in Leo – the sign of courage, confidence and leadership – the starts quite literally align to maximise your manifestations and help you achieve your wildest dreams.
“Last year’s Lion’s Gate Portal was incredible for me,” Cleo says. “I wanted to achieve 1,000,000 downloads on my podcast, ‘Pass Around the Smile’, which I was quite far from. On August 8, I asked the universe to show me how I could reach that number.
“Within a week, people started coming to me with podcast sponsorships and opportunities and on the exact date I had set to achieve my goal, my podcast hit 1,000,000 downloads. It was such a reach and felt so far, but I just had to tap into that self-belief that I deserved it.”
How do you manifest during Lion’s Gate Portal?
In the spirit of brave Leo, the Lion’s Gate Portal is your chance to ask unapologetically for what you want. It could be something you say to yourself in the car, to your friends over a wine, or you write in your journal.
“You just have to state it clearly,” Cleo says. “It’s actually very easy to take advantage of this energy. It doesn’t have to be anything scary or big – you know in your gut, right now, what you want.”
Cleo suggests taking the next couple of days to think about it. If it feels too big, ask yourself why. “It’s probably a limiting belief,” she says.
Unlike Mercury Retrograde, which hits us when we don’t realise (and honestly, don’t want) it, Lion’s Gate affects us in a good way. To tap into the higher frequency, simply do what feels good.
“When you focus on yourself, you’re telling the universe that you deserve to feel good,” Cleo says. “Say what you want, feel it, visualise it – you’ll automatically attract the opportunities and experiences you’re wanting. Don’t overthink it.”
What if I don’t believe in astrology?
As Cleo says, there’s no harm in allowing yourself to feel good – whether you’re spiritual or not. You don’t have to know what’s happening to reap the rewards.
“Just take the next few weeks to do something that is bound to make you feel good and see what happens – it might surprise you,” Cleo says. “Who doesn’t want to do less and attract more?”
How can I make the most of the Lion’s Gate Portal?
Cleo’s top three tips for the 2026 Lion’s Gate Portal…
- Spend time alone in nature, connecting with yourself and the world around you
- Meditate and journal, using prompts like “What do I want to let go of?” and “What do I want to bring in?” (check out Cleo’s Lion’s Gate Portal guide for more)
- Do card readings – ask your tarot or guidance cards what you need to know, and you’ll get specific answers
Happy 8/8!
About Cleo Massey…
Cleo Massey grew up on the Gold Coast, best known for her four years starring in H2O: Just Add Water as a teenager. After the show, she chased acting full-time, auditioning relentlessly between the Gold Coast, Sydney and LA – an experience that taught her as much about the industry’s dark side as its glamour. When the law of attraction she’d studied since 15 seemed to stop working, Cleo turned inward to understand why, unpicking manifestation from a psychological lens on her blog. That curiosity became her calling: she now creates oracle cards, journals and podcasts full-time, helping others tune into what’s actually meant for them. Learn more at www.passaroundthesmile.com.
