What makes that suburb the best on the GC?
The people would be number one. I was really surprised to learn how much of a community feel there is in Mermaid. Closely followed by the beach, changing your car for a skateboard as your weekend ride and the Mermaid Surf Club.
Fave place to stop, relax for 20 mins and enjoy a morning cuppa? And what treat is on the plate beside your hot bevvie?
The beachside deck at the end of our street with an Alltime or Board Culture coffee and a Nutella filled doughnut from the Chinese bakery at the other end of our street.
Fave Gold Coast casual dining location? What’s on the menu?
Etu and Poke Poke would be right up there and Bonita Bonita’s Bon Bon bar for an after-dinner drink.
You’re planning a fun, local night out with your mates?
Which three locations top your list and why? My driveway, any of the beachside decks and the Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club. I don’t get out much as I prefer to hang with family and friends as a group. I have very social friends so
there is always a happy hour or barbecue.
Best local spot for family hangs and why?
Any beach, as we all love the water. Swimming at the rock pools is always a hit and Burleigh Hill is fantastic.
Fave Gold Coast shopping destination?
Pacific Fair is awesome but I am probably more of an outlet shopper so the Ashmore surf outlets are a favourite for my once-a- year shop!
