Which suburb do you call home?
Burleigh
What makes that suburb the best on the GC?
The great community that resides here and its vibrant feel. It’s close to the beach and one of the best surf breaks in the world (which makes my hubby and two boys happy). Great restaurants and bars are at our doorstep too. My girlfriends and I have a
hashtag…#whybaliwhenyoucanburleigh.
Fave place to stop, relax for 20 mins and enjoy a morning cuppa? And what treat is on the plate beside your hot bevvie?
Lakeview Expresso in Burleigh Street make the best chai teas and it’s brewed using
real leaves in a pot (not the syrup)! If I have time to treat myself it’ll be with a
delicious almond croissant and a girlfriend to catch up on some goss..
Fave Gold Coast casual dining location? What’s on the menu?
Little Plate is in the back streets of Burleigh. It’s intimate, friendly and the perfect
place to share some delicious tapas style food. You can’t go wrong ordering anything
of this varied menu but the mussels are a highlight for me and my 12 year old son.
You’re planning a fun, local night out with your mates? Which three locations top
your list and why?
Starting off in early afternoon with an Aperol Spritz at Rickshaws –
the best place for admiring the beach views and an entree with the best bug roll
(warning: just stop at one!). Then moving to the fun and lively atmosphere at Jimmy
Wah’s Vietnamese inspired dining. You could try one of their many Asian-skewed
cocktails but I keep it simple with a chilled Rosé while devouring the Yellowfin tuna
sashimi. The party can continue on as late as you want at Justin Lane Rooftop Bar.
Listening to cool tunes under the stars on a balmy Gold Coast evening make this the
perfect place to end the night.
Best local spot for family hangs and why?
A family and friends day at the beach in the corner at South Burleigh. Often protected
by the winds you can hang there all day. Close enough to watch those who want to surf and those who want to climb rocks and collect shells. Grab a delicious take away
coffee from Nook and some hot chips from the South Burleigh kiosk.
Fave Gold Coast shopping destination?
I love keeping it local and shopping in James Street, Burleigh. I always seem to find
something at Bikini and Me. Or if I’m up for the drive then Pacific Fair since it’s been
done up has all the brands under the one roof.
Complete this sentence: Only a Gold Coast local knows…
How lucky we are to be living in such a wonderful place. There is more to living here than the amazing weather, the pristine beaches, great surf and theme parks. There is a community here that is genuine and vibrant, that’s interested in the arts and cultural activities. The place to be for creatives and entrepreneurs!
