There are so many reasons to go BYO. For one, it’s cheaper (we don’t need to tell you why that’s super important right now). Two, it’s easier – everyone can sip on their beverage of choice, or nothing at all, without having to quibble over the drinks bill at the end. Lastly, there are plenty of Gold Coast BYO restaurants to choose from. Here are our faves…
Toro’s Pizza, Palm Beach
Tucked away on Eighth Avenue, it might be easy to forget Toro’s when you think of Palm Beach restaurants. But with a mouth-watering menu, Mediterranean vibe and BYO wine offering, this restaurant is worth remembering. There’s even a BWS around the corner. Easy as.
Zipang, Currumbin
Perfect for a chill night out – or even a quick lunch – Zipang offers authentic Japanese cooking in the heart of Currumbin. Their tapas-style plates are best shared, while their rice bowls and meal plates make for a hearty lunch or dinner. Top it all off with some BYO wine and you’re golden.
Chiangmai Thai, Surfers and Broadbeach
If you’ve driven the Gold Coast Highway through Broadbeach, you know Changmai Thai. The palatial building – festooned with neon lights, naturally – is iconic. But what you may not know is that this is just one of two Changmai Thai locations on the Gold Coast; both are delightfully authentic, from the menu to the décor to the hospitality. Being BYO is just a bonus.
Arlo’s Pizzeria, Chevron Island
Chevron Islanders are spoilt when it comes to authentic, family-owned Italian – Arlo’s Pizzeria has been slinging sourdough pizzas for years. Inspired by chef and owner Paul’s Italian heritage, their menu honours traditional pizza making methods (though, they say, isn’t restrained by them).
Taboon, Robina
At Taboon, Eastern flavours, aromas and music all combine to create the ultimate Middle Eastern dining experience. Family owned and operated, Taboon has been a go-to for Robina locals (and many more travelling in from beyond the 4226) since 2006.
Romanas, Nobbys
The original Covino family business (the older sibling of Georges on Sorrento in Bundall), Romanas dishes up classic Italian fare – at fair prices, too. BYO wine to enjoy alongside their range of pizzas (topped with homemade tomato sauce), pastas and seafood dishes for the ideal night out.
