Autumn fashion trends, and where to buy them
We’ll be the first to say that autumn is one of the best times of year to get dressed on the Gold Coast. The mornings are a little cooler, the humidity finally backs off and those layers (even the light ones) you’ve been ignoring all summer suddenly make sense again.
While there’s certainly no obligation to reinvent your style every season, incorporating new trends can – and should – be fun. And these autumn trends can easily slot into what you already own.
From off-shoulder tops and relaxed trousers to chunky jewellery and the return of capris, these are the pieces that will help your autumn outfits feel fresh – especially if your cool-weather wardrobe has been packed away since August.

Horizontal stripes
The classic Breton stripe is back again – but this time it’s less Parisian, more coastal. Think fitted long-sleeve tees in red, navy or chocolate stripes paired with denim, tailored trousers or your favourite sports shorts. The Lioness version was everywhere on Instagram (and IRL) last autumn/winter, but we’re partial to this one from our friends at Sean Scott Boutique.

Sheer layers
Sheer fabrics are continuing their fashion takeover – and during a Gold Coast autumn, they’re the perfect layering piece. This Kivari lace long-sleeve worn under a tank, a mesh or crochet top over a bralette or bikini, or a translucent skirt layered over pants or bare legs adds texture without adding warmth – ideal for the Gold Coast’s still-balmy evenings.

Off-shoulder tops
One of the biggest silhouettes of the season also happens to be perfect for our tepid autumn weather – the off-shoulder top. Striking the perfect balance between cosy and breezy, you’ll find it in many forms this season. Ribbed knits, slouchy tees and soft long sleeves worn slightly off the shoulder feel effortless for autumn evenings when the temperature dips, but it’s still warm enough to show a little skin. This With Jean version is the perfect example.

Utilitarian trousers
If you fear the return of the skinny jean, don’t stress – we’re still a long way from spray-on silhouettes that show everything down to the change in your pocket. We still love pants that work for us – literally, and figuratively. Cargo pants, tailored trousers with a twist and workwear-inspired pants are both laid-back and practical (hello, pockets!). Think low-rise cargos with double-layered tanks, oversized button-down shirts with tailored slacks or linen trousers styled with simple tees.

Statement belts
Belts are no longer an afterthought – this autumn, they can make your whole outfit. Wide leather belts with oversized buckles and vintage-inspired hardware (or even genuine vintage details, like those at Strange Days) are the perfect anchor for simple outfits, cinching oversized shirts, elevating denim or adding structure to relaxed tailoring. On the softer side, macrame, lace and ruffle belts add detail to your favourite pants or skirts. This sequin version from Emte is high on our wishlist.

Chunky charm jewellery
After 2025 was declared the year of the bag charm, it was no wonder personalised jewellery would follow – and charm necklaces and bracelets are leading the charge. Instead of delicate charms, the new versions are chunky, playful and layered – shells, hearts, pearls and vintage-style trinkets all in one stack. Even bubble letters are back, and brands like Kaarme are leading the trend.

Capri pants
Yes, they’re back. Whether you like it or not, capri pants have been showing up slowly in runway collections and street style over the last few seasons, though they’re styled differently than the early-2000s versions. Think slim black capris paired with ballet flats, kitten heels or even thongs, depending on the occasion. Add an oversized shirt or baby tee for a look that feels more minimalist than nostalgic.
