Looking for things to do this long weekend? Look no further. From updating your autumn wardrobe to trying your hand at a new craft – not to mention Easter events aplenty – there’s no shortage of things to do this Easter weekend.
Go to an Easter Sunday brunch
Whether you’re free as a bird this Easter Sunday or you simply don’t feel like cooking, you’ll be pleased to know that some of the city’s best venues are hosting brunches to commemorate the occasion. Book in quickly though, as these Easter Sunday brunches are sure to fill up fast.
Taste the best hot cross buns
Our one mission this Easter holiday? Go back to work having tasted as many different hot cross buns as we possibly can – and these local bakeries will help us do it. They may not be ‘one a penny’ (or even ‘two a penny’) but they’re worth every cent.
Check out local Easter events
This Easter, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to festive events – there are so many things to do. From live music (spanning wholesome family concerts to sweaty raves) to Easter feasts that will entice any foodie, add these events to your calendar.

Enjoy a barbeque
The warm weather is disappearing but barbeques up and down the coast are still heating up. You don’t need a state-of-the-art barbie to grill, smoke and sizzle up a storm – there are plenty of great BBQ spots on the Gold Coast for you to use, free of charge.
Take a bush walk
Whether you’re after a hardcore hike, a stroll with your soulmate or have a family in tow, there’s no better way to spend the Easter long weekend than with a wholesome walk. Put one foot in front of the other on one of these Gold Coast walking tracks – your mind, body and soul will thank you for it.
Get out of town
Whether you’re looking for something to do on one of the public holidays or you just want to make the most of your weekend, there’s always time for a day trip – especially over Easter. These are our three favourite day trips to take from the Gold Coast (and the ones we always recommend to visitors).
Go shopping
Just because we don’t *really* experience autumn, it doesn’t mean we can’t dress like we do. Spend your Easter long weekend supporting local brands, whether it’s online or in person. Click the link below for the pieces we’re loving from businesses based in and around the Gold Coast, that will see you through autumn – and beyond.
Spend the whole weekend at the beach
Now is one of the few times a year when the water is relatively warm and the days aren’t too hot. Start your day with a morning swim or surf, soak up the sun with a good book, ditch the treadmill in favour of a beach walk or run, and make each meal a beach picnic – even if it’s drizzling, there are so many ways you can spend this weekend enjoying the beautiful beaches we have on our doorstep.
