Our one mission this Easter holiday? Go back to work having tasted as many different hot cross buns as we possibly can – and these local bakeries will help us do it. They may not be ‘one a penny’ (or even ‘two a penny’) but these hot cross buns on the Gold Coast are worth every cent.
Paddock Bakery
Just one of the incredible Easter treats you can try at Paddock Bakery right now (hello, dippy eggs!) are these semi-sourdough hot cross buns. They’re hand rolled, with a choice between OG Fruit & Decadent Chocolate. We’re so there.
Bam Bam Bakehouse
It’s raining hot cross buns at Bam Bam Bakehouse – they’ve got not one but four varieties of classic buns, plus their must-taste Easter Bombs. A ball of brioche and vanilla custard, pimped up with a stunning combo of spices and dried fruit.
Fuel Bakehouse
This Currumbin and Cabarita fave has two hot cross bun flavours to choose from this Easter. Opt for traditional with standard fruit (which is vegan, too) or go a little crazy with choc chop. They’re both scrumptious.
Tarte Bakery
Whether you’re a hot cross bun purist (AKA, spiced fruit only) or you like a fun twist, you won’t be disappointed by Tarte’s Easter offering this year. They’ve got traditional fruit flavour as well as a delicious dark Lindt choc chip – both are made from a super soft, fluffy, pull apart dough.
Custard Canteen
Did someone say hot cross brioche bombs? These house-made delicacies are loaded with Easter spiced fruits and silky mousseline (we don’t even know what that is, but we love it).
