They’ve taken their tour all over the world – now, psychic mediums Julia Cartagena and Donna Maree, along with Aussie ‘ghost whisperer’ Anthony Grzelka, are getting set to bring ‘Two Psychics and a Medium’ to The Star Gold Coast.
Taking the stage on Thursday May 21, as part of their national tour, Julia, Donna and Anthony will deliver unscripted live readings with audience members – making each show totally unique. Expect to laugh, expect to cry, and expect to marvel at the talents of some of Australia’s most internationally respected psychic mediums.
We caught up with Julia ahead of the Gold Coast leg of ‘Two Psychics and a Medium’, to find out exactly how the tour – and her talents – came to be. She explains how live experiences can work in tandem with private readings, introducing – or in some cases, confirming – the power of psychic mediums to new audiences.
“What I always remind people is that connection doesn’t begin or end with a live show,” Julia says. “Many people already experience signs, dreams, feelings or moments of intuition that suggest ongoing connection with loved ones.
“These shows simply create a shared space where that possibility is explored openly. At its heart, it’s about love, healing, and the human need for connection – and that’s something almost everyone can relate to in some way.”

For the uninitiated, what exactly is a psychic medium?
A psychic medium is someone who is able to tune into and interpret information beyond the physical senses. In my experience, this often involves connecting with the energy or consciousness of loved ones who have passed, as well as working intuitively with the emotional and energetic state of a person.
At its core, mediumship is about connection. People often think it’s purely about “communication with spirit,” but it’s really about bringing through reassurance, validation and messages that help people feel a continued sense of love and bond with those they’ve lost.
When did you discover you had this gift? Can you remember a specific moment?
I’ve always been naturally intuitive, but I became consciously aware of it in childhood through strong feelings, dreams and knowing things I couldn’t logically explain at the time.
As I grew older, I began to understand these experiences weren’t coincidence. There wasn’t one single defining moment, but rather a gradual unfolding where repeated experiences confirmed what I was sensing was real and consistent.
How did you hone it over time?
Over time, I developed my ability through practice, reflection and working with real people in readings. Like any skill, it becomes clearer with experience.
A big part of honing it has also been learning discernment – understanding the difference between intuition, emotion and external influence, and learning how to stay grounded and focused when working in live or high-energy environments.
What are some of the ways that your work helps people?
Most people come to a reading looking for answers, but what they often receive is reassurance. The most powerful part of my work is helping people feel a continued sense of connection with loved ones who have passed.
It can bring comfort in grief, ease feelings of guilt, and help people understand that love doesn’t end with physical loss. For many, even one moment of validation can bring a deep sense of peace and emotional relief.
What are some unexpected reasons someone might seek the help of a psychic medium?
People are often surprised by how many different reasons lead them to seek a reading. It’s not always grief. Some people are navigating big life transitions, uncertainty in relationships, or moments where they feel stuck and are searching for clarity or reassurance.
At a deeper level, most people are really seeking the same thing – a sense of certainty, connection, and hope when life feels uncertain.
What are the standout moments of your career?
Some of the most meaningful moments have come from live events, where the energy of an audience creates incredibly unexpected and emotional experiences.
There have been moments where specific details or validations have brought immediate comfort to individuals in the room in ways that feel deeply significant.
I’ve also had experiences where intuitive impressions have aligned with real-world events, reinforcing the importance of trusting those inner feelings. But ultimately, the standout moments are always the ones where someone leaves feeling lighter, more at peace, or more connected to someone they’ve lost.
Can you tell me how the ‘Two Psychics and a Medium’ tour came to be?
The tour came together quite organically through a shared vision between myself, Donna and Anthony. We all bring slightly different styles to our work, but we share a common intention – to create an experience that feels real, grounded and deeply human.
We wanted to take mediumship out of a one-on-one setting and create something larger, where audiences could experience connection in a collective space. From there, the idea evolved into a live show format that has continued to grow through word of mouth and audience response.
What should audience members be most excited for about the show?
Every show is completely unscripted, so no two nights are ever the same. That’s part of what makes it so powerful.
Audience members can expect a mix of live readings, emotional moments, humour and unexpected validations. Even if someone doesn’t personally receive a message, many people find that what comes through for others resonates in a deeply meaningful way for them as well.
