MAIN BEACH
SOUTHPORT HAS CERTAINLY CHANGED A LOT OVER THE YEARS, BUT TAKE A WALK AROUND THE MAIN BEACH AREA AND YOU’RE SURE TO SPOT PLENTY OF REMNANTS FROM THE GOLD COAST’S GLORY DAYS. FROM WORLD-CLASS SURF TO FIVE-STAR HOTELS, THERE’S NOTHING MAIN BEACH DOESN’T HAVE TO OFFER.
BITES
As sultry and captivating as its panther mascot, Bistro Chico is the perfect combination of casual and classy. Serving up flavoursome dishes that are sure to get you talking, this new restaurant is certainly a welcome addition to Main Beach’s famous Tedder Avenue precinct.
SIGHTS
Connecting the Spit and Point Danger is a 36km network of pathways known as the Gold Coast Oceanway. Popular with walkers and cyclists, the Oceanway should be the first port of call for any Main Beach newbie looking to get acquainted with the locals – and we’re not just talking about the two-legged variety.
FUN
Speaking of wildlife, Main Beach is home to one of Australia’s most popular landmarks. Seaworld allows visitors to get up close and personal with dolphins, seals, sharks and plenty of other underwater creatures, while also advocating for ocean conservation and education. And if you’re keen to be in the water yourself – or rather, soaring just above it – you have to check out Jetovator Australia. Strap on the jetpack or mount the jet bike and prepare for the time of your life!
