What makes that suburb the best on the GC?

Everything is so central. I can be down at the beach in under 10 minutes and do all my groceries around the corner.

Favourite place to stop, relax for 20 mins and enjoy a morning cuppa? And what treat is on the plate next to it?

A coffee or fresh juice from BSKT and a morning beach walk at Miami with our dogs, Storm (our black lab) and Sunnie (our white golden retriever). I am a big sweet tooth… so any sweet treat is tempting for me, haha!

The best place to grab a low-key lunch or dinner on the Gold Coast? What’s the best thing on the menu?

We love a low-key early dinner. Our go-to would be Lucky Bao. It never disappoints, and I can never leave without ordering the crispy eggplant – even though I never finish it, it’s so big!

You’re planning a fun, local night out with your mates: Which three locations top your list and why?

It’s usually a long boozy lunch with our group. Mexicali have a great bottomless margi deal. After that usually down the road at Nobby’s Arc then head to Justin Lane for a dance or a pub for some live music.

Your Saturday morning is totally free: How are you spending it?

Up early for a home workout, do some work, a beach walk and brekky with my other half, and usually a catch up with mum for a coffee.

Favourite Gold Coast shopping destination?

James Street in Burleigh. My go-to’s are Emte and Sean Scott.

What makes that suburb the best on the GC?

The wildlife, the fact that I live on the QLD/NSW border-trail and back onto bushland, and also have the most beautiful beach within five minutes’ drive of my home. I have the best of both worlds!

Favourite place to stop, relax for 20 mins and enjoy a morning cuppa? And what treat is on the plate next to it?

Right now, I am loving a new local called Stone Studio in Currumbin. They have dippy eggs so I am there! Plus, it has a large outdoor area where my daughter Season and dog Opal can run around and play.

The best place to grab a low-key lunch or dinner on the Gold Coast? What’s the best thing on the menu?

For lunch I am usually local and can’t beat Dust Temple. They have live music on weekends which is so relaxing. I love the beef quesadillas. And for dinner you’ll find me at Pepé’s Deli in Palm Beach, where I will always order the gnocchi Sorrentina and a glass of pinot noir. Etsu in Mermaid Waters is also great. I am currently loving the banquet menu so I can try a bit of everything.

You’re planning a fun, local night out with your mates: Which three locations top your list and why?

1. Scottish Prince in Palm Beach: Reminds me of an underground bar in London and has great cocktails!
2. Little Tommy’s: This is just a short drive from my home. I love how casual it is and that it’s right by Currumbin Creek. The food is also so amazing!
3. Rick Shores: Need I say more?

Your Saturday morning is totally free: How are you spending it?

An early morning stroll along Currumbin Creek down to the beach with my daughter and partner. And then obviously to the Palm Beach Farmers Markets. A few years ago, I made a promise to myself that we would shop locally and mostly organic where available. So, rain, hail or shine (literally), you will find me there, stocking up with our produce for the week ahead.

Favourite Gold Coast shopping destination?

Always Cornerstone in Tugun. I love shopping at Prae and Kind Curations.

Mermaid Beach

What makes that suburb the best on the GC?

There is an epic community in Mermaid. Between different run clubs, gyms and beach-side yoga, there is always something to do.

Favourite place to stop, relax for 20 mins and enjoy a morning cuppa? And what treat is on the plate next to it?

I cannot say I am a Mermaid local without my favourite place being Rafiki for an ILB (iced long black). The complimentary cookie with each coffee definitely hits the spot. Also love running into someone everytime you go there.

Is it basic to say Fishbowl? Well if it is, I guess I am basic. The coconut chicken slaps.

Don’t go out too much, but if I do, anywhere around Burleigh. Love Justin Lane.

Your Saturday morning is totally free: How are you spending it?

Always try to keep Saturday mornings free for my long runs. Training for a couple of marathons, and something about training on a Saturday morning hits different.

Favourite Gold Coast shopping destination?

lululemon Pacific Fair. They redesign the store every Tuesday, so you can always find the best, new stuff Tuesday mornings.

You need to rest and recharge: Where do you go/what do you do?

City Cave Mermaid Waters always helps me recharge. Going between the float therapy and the infrared sauna. Besides that, the best place to recharge is Friday Flow for breathwork and yoga, every Friday at 6.15am, opposite Rafiki.

Talley Valley

What makes that suburb the best on the GC?

Talley Valley is amazing. It’s only 10-15 minutes from two world-class waves. It’s away from the crazy business. In our garden we have a couple of koalas, five wallabies and a few snakes that seem to show up once a month.

Parlour in West Burleigh is probably my most frequented café. I also spend a bunch of time at MADE cafe in Tugun and Switchfoot café in Cooly. MADE café make an epic ham and mustard toastie.

The best place to grab a low-key lunch or dinner on the Gold Coast? What’s the best thing on the menu?

Palm Beach Surf Club is a fave. Plus, it’s the only place where our son Roman actually has to take his hat off of his head. That kid puts his back on after going to bed and sleeps wearing it. But if I felt like being a little exotic and going on a date night with my wife we would go to Oi Izakaya in Burleigh.

You’re planning a fun, local night out with your mates: Which three locations top your list and why?

Putt Putt golf in mermaid. You can grab a beer and go around the courses there.
Drinks at Burleigh Brewing Company and then I’d probably get Pizza at ‘Man on a Bike’ in Tallebudgera on the way home.

Your Saturday morning is totally free: How are you spending it?
A free Saturday!! Wow, my Saturdays are usually over tun by taxiing my three kids between swimming, dance and soccer. But in a world where my Saturday morning is free… 5am Kirra Surf (greatest place on earth), 8am Switchfoot Cooly coffee while checking the Superbank. Then I would probably head home, grab the fam and shoot out to the Currumbin Valley for a bush walk, stopping at the Eco Park for some more coffee and scones.

Favourite Gold Coast shopping destination?

This is a question for my wife. She is a big fan of vanishing to The Pines for a few hours. I’m more of a Stocklands in and out kind of guy.
