We don’t get much of a winter so, when the temperatures dip, we like to make the most of it. For expert tips on winter fashion on the Gold Coast, we caught up with Ali Archdeacon.
As the founder of her label Archdeacon Co and the creative director of her online boutique Arche Company – not to mention, a Gold Coast local – there are few people better equipped to talk all things winter fashion than Ali.
Here’s what she had to say…
Owning your label, Archdeacon, you’ve got an eye for the trends that will be coming in seasons ahead. What do you think we will be seeing this winter?
Lots of neutrals! Particularly when it comes to timeless pieces like trench coats. We’ll also be seeing those classic capsule wardrobe staples which means lots of opportunities to mix and match.
What staple pieces can we invest in to keep our wardrobe feeling fresh? Not just this season, but for seasons ahead?
Invest in a good, staple oversized blazer! I love blazers because they can dress up any outfit, helping you look more chic or smart/casual. Look into high quality fabrics that will last you seasons of wear – think strong, natural fibres like cottons and ramie.
Thinking more personally, what will be your uniform or go-to outfit combo this winter?
My personal go-to this winter will be a good pair of denim and a thick ribbed singlet, paired with a blazer over the top.
Winter always seems to surprise us here on the Gold Coast. What are some easy ways to add warmth while still owning your personal style?
Layer! For an easy yet super stylish casual look, keep it neutral with your basics (pants or a maxi skirt) then throw on a comfy soft knit over the top. For something a bit dressier, I love black dress pants paired with bodysuits or silk blouses. Add that handy, high-quality blazer over the top and some boots and you’re golden. Keeping it classy, chic and still warm!
The vision behind your label Archdeacon is ‘non-seasonal, conscious fashion’. What are some core pieces from your collection that you’ll be taking from summer into winter? And how?
Definitely the classic Aria pants paired with Anna vest. Both are must-have wardrobe staples – they’re easy to wear and can be dressed up or down. With the cooler months, the Ava blazer is the perfect addition.
We’re looking forward to the winter season here on the Gold Coast, but sadly it doesn’t stay cold for long. It will feel like summer again before we know it! Keep posted as we have some incredible garments launching before spring. Handmade, bespoke pieces coming soon!
