WE’RE ABOUT WANDERLUST … THE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE… THE THRILL OF THE CHASE … THE UNBEATEN PATH. WE’RE ABOUT SHOWCASING THE BEST OF THE COAST, THE HOTSPOTS THAT LOCALS KNOW BEST.
How wonderful is our Gold Coast in winter?! It’s not around for long, so us locals embrace the chill and a few other things we can’t normally, year round, on the Goldie. For instance, I adore the way the sea seems to sparkle more in the winter sunshine and how the sunsets light up the sky with a rich, rosy colour pallet.
We may not be in our bikinis at the beach, but we still get the sand between our toes and enjoy counting whales that are migrating past. In the winter, you can savour a coffee and a sweet treat alfresco when you get your daily caffeine fix. And who doesn’t love snuggling under a patio heater for tapas and a red wine on a winter afternoon with friends?
End of financial year sales are in full swing so it’s also the best time to grab a bargain and maybe even a new winter style? Winter is also one of my favourite times of the year to adventure into the hinterland and get a dose of nature. Yes it’s chilly, but you simply rug up, enjoy a tea and scone pit stop as you drive up Springbrook or Tamborine Mountains, or take a spin into the western ranges for the day. Read on for ideas on where you can scout around on the Gold Coast (and beyond) this winter.
