What do you get when you combine the country’s favourite fro-yo with the spread of the moment? You get excited (and pretty hungry). Here’s the story behind the new Yo-Chi pistachio flavour…
The Gold Coast’s frozen yoghurt dealer of choice, Yo-Chi, is teaming up with ‘the sexy all-Italian pistachio spread’ Pistachio Papi this month – and it’s already expected to sell out.
From April 14 until May 26 (if stocks last that long), you can score this beloved 100 percent pistachio spread on top of your favourite fro-yo flavours. Better yet, both the Broadbeach and Surfers venues will be getting in on the green goodness.
“We’re so grateful for the support we receive on the Gold Coast,” says Yo-Chi’s Oliver Allis – who also revealed an exciting announcement to us. “We cannot wait to open venues in Robina and Soul Surfers very soon!”
While we’re not sure exactly when Yo-Chi will double their Gold Coast offering, we’ll certainly be putting Sunday April 21 in our calendars: that’s when Yo-Chi and Pistachio Papi will be hosting their ‘free Yo-Chi for your nonna’ event.
“In honour of Pistachio Papi’s love for their iconic nonnas, we’re thanking the grandmas’ of Australia for all the love they put in the world,” says Oliver. “We want this to be the most wholesome day in Yo-Chi’s history.”
Organise a Sunday date to Yo-Chi with your nonna/nana/grandma/yiayia on April 21, and they’ll score a free Yo-Chi up to $12.
“Be ready for hundreds of Nonnas at Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise on the 21st of April,” warns Oliver.
Speaking to scout magazine about this iconic collaboration, Oliver says it was only a matter of time.
“Two fast-growing, fun-loving and exciting brands…. It was always going to happen!” he says. “We love working with other Aussie businesses to use our shared brains and resources to create something special. It’s been an amazing experience and we strongly recommend it to anyone thinking about a collaboration.
“Of course, a collaboration with an up-and- coming GC business would be incredible. Send us a DM!”
Perhaps we’ll be seeing a Balter IPA flavoured yoghurt or a Bam Bam Bakehouse topping on the lineup soon? Until then, there’s always the Gold Coast’s native finger lime topping.
“It’s the most local flavour you can get,” says Oliver.
Head to Yo-Chi in Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach from Sunday April 14 to grab their Pistachio Papi topping, before it’s gone.
