Which suburb do you call home?
Miami
What makes that suburb the best on the GC?
I love the strong sense of community, the close proximity to the beach, the restaurants and cafes, night markets and the fact we are surrounded by likeminded people. That being said, I grew up at Currumbin Beach so it will always have my heart, too.
Fave place to stop, relax for 20 mins and enjoy a morning cuppa? And what treat is on the plate beside your hot bevvie?
Hide n Seek Espresso without a doubt. They do the best coffee on the Gold Coast and the owners, Mark and Rosie, and their entire team are the sweetest, most welcoming souls you will meet. The food is all made in-house.
Fave Gold Coast casual dining location? What’s on the menu?
It’s hard to beat the Acai bowls at Salt Mill at Currumbin and I just discovered Easy House, a delightful little family-run vegan yum cha at Mermaid Waters. Delicious!!
You’re planning a fun, local night out with your mates?
Rick Shores for the bug rolls. Etsu for the fun atmosphere, modern Japanese food and drinks and for a girls’ dinner. I also love plant-based restaurant, Greenhouse Canteen at Miami.
Best local spot for family hangs and why?
Echo Beach at Tallebudgera, Currumbin Alley for family surfs and the Pirate Park at Palm Beach. We have a half-pipe in our backyard so we often entertain family and friends here so the kids can skate and play and we can enjoy a margarita or two.
Fave Gold Coast shopping destination?
The Village Markets at Burleigh is always my go-to place for fashion, homewares and great pieces for my kids. Plus, I am addicted to the truffle buckwheat wraps from Mio. I also buy a lot from Sean Scott Boutique on James Street and The Borrowed Nursery for plants and pots.
Complete this sentence: Only a Gold Coast local knows…
That our city is no longer just a tourist mecca. There’s a huge creative community who collaborate, support and inspire each other. It is such a fantastic place to live now, especially the Southern Gold Coast.
